Phasecraft is the quantum algorithms company. We are building the mathematical foundations for quantum computing applications that solve real-world problems. Founded in 2019 by Toby Cubitt, Ashley Montanaro and John Morton, we are based in London and Bristol in the UK and opened an office in Washington DC in 2024, led by Steve Flammia. In 2025 we completed a $34m Series B funding round co-led by Plural, existing investor Playground Global, and Novo Holdings’ Quantum Fund in its first direct quantum software investment.
Phasecraft’s unprecedented access to today’s best quantum computers – through partnerships with Google, IBM, Quantinuum and QuEra – provides us with unique opportunities to develop foundational IP, inform the development of next-generation quantum hardware, and accelerate commercialization of high-value breakthroughs.
One of the key applications of Phasecraft’s quantum algorithms is to modelling materials and molecular systems, where we have demonstrated significant reductions in cost compared with the state-of-the-art.

In this newly created role, you will play a key role in guiding and coordinating the materials team’s research efforts in the US, working closely with the Head of the US office and the materials team lead at Phasecraft. 
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of research in the theory and application of computational techniques to materials or chemistry simulation, with an interest in applying algorithms for quantum computers to computational materials science. Their work will contribute to Phasecraft’s goal of developing quantum algorithms for near-term quantum computers, and may encompass topics such as algorithm design, optimization and implementation, resource analysis, classical and quantum simulation benchmarking. They will have the opportunity to direct and grow a portfolio of research activity across the breadth of Phasecraft’s interests.

Champions research-to-operations (R2O2R) acceleration, guides modeling strategy evolution, and connects EPIC with the NWP and user/research communities. Supports cross-cutting innovation, governance, and documentation per PWS technical objectives.
NOAA created the Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC) to improve operational weather and climate forecast systems through scientific and technical innovation via model co-development with the Weather Enterprise - government, industry and academia. EPIC will facilitate improved and reliable forecasts produced by numerical Earth system models that will reduce the devastating impacts of hazardous weather.
The EPIC Program and Contract will deliver world-class numerical weather prediction systems supporting NOAA's mission to save lives, protect property, and enhance the economy. Job DescriptionParallel Squared Technology Institute&nbsp;(PTI) is a non-profit research institute aiming to catalyze a leap in protein analysis technology and use it to explore new biological frontiers. PTI supports open research and educational opportunities supporting rapid career development for scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. Why?&nbsp;Protein dysfunctions directly cause many diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease. Yet, proteins remain understudied because of technological hurdles. How?&nbsp;To resolve these limitations, PTI will develop mass tags enabling a new&nbsp;framework&nbsp;for multiplexed protein analysis by mass spectrometry towards achieving 100-fold increase in throughput. We are looking to hire a Lead Quantum Algorithms Scientist to join our team in Washington DC. In this newly created role, you will play a key role in guiding and coordinating the US team’s research efforts, working closely with the Head of the US office and the senior science team at Phasecraft. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading research direction in the theory of algorithms for gate-model quantum computers or related topics in quantum computing theory, quantum information theory or related areas of quantum theory.
