THE PLACE
Shepherd’s Door, Portland Rescue Mission’s women and children's facility, is set in a retreat-like setting located in East Portland, designed specifically to support the transformation and growth of women, and women with children, impacted by homelessness and addiction. This 42,000 square foot facility has the capacity to serve 42 adults and 25 children. The Children’s Center cares for children (birth-age 12) of mothers in Portland Rescue Mission’s year-long New Life program.
THE POSITION
The Children's Center Assistant will support the Children’s Center teachers in creating a Christ-centered, school-like environment for up to 25 children (birth-age 12) while increasing social, language, and motor skills that may be delayed due to environmental factors. Utilizing trauma-informed classroom principles, this role will work with mothers, children, volunteers, and community resources to assist children in the development of educational, emotional, and spiritual growth. Emphasis is placed on building self-esteem, strengthening social skills, and experiencing healthy relationships, with a goal of building connection and trust. 
THE ESSENTIALS

<li>Program participants with children living at Shepherd’s Door will know their children are well loved and cared for while they remain fully engaged in their program</li>
<li>Lead Teachers will be supported in focusing on the children and curriculum delivery, knowing other areas of classroom needs are being met by the assistant</li>

The Resident Care Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of resident care needs including, but not limited to drafting the schedule, maintenance of required logs such as the physician appointment log and the pharmacy log, filing and organization of the clinical record, retrieval of signed physician orders, etc. Additionally, the Resident Care Coordinator assists the Director of Health &amp; Wellness, as needed, to train new Care Managers, and Medication Technicians. In the absence of the Director of Health &amp; Wellness, assumes the responsibility of supervision and delivery of resident care services in compliance with TerraBella expectations, policy and procedure and State regulations.
Responsibilities:

<li>Ensures resident care staffing is within regulatory and company requirements with a 4-week rolling schedule submitted to the Director of Health &amp; Wellness for approval at least one week in advance of posting due date.</li>
<li>Maintains the resident care scheduling book with current approved requests for time off noted on the scheduling calendar for planning purposes.</li>
<li>Performs daily filing of all documents relevant to the resident record in chronological order. Performs a quality assurance review of the documents prior to filing to ensure items are dated, verified and signed by the physician if appropriate.</li>

Performs routine care giving tasks, helping with materials and activities, receiving children, interacting with children and attending to the children's physical needs. Ensures care is provided in accordance with standards, assists in planning, and conducting activities, conducts health checks, ensures the safety and well-being of children, completes reports, and interacts with parents.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
This is a developmental position leading to a full performance level Child Care Assistant, NF-1702-02. Upon satisfactory performance and one year completion of general working experience, an employee may be non-competitively promoted to the Child Care Assistant, NF-1702-02 at management’s request with potential for a higher rate in pay.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum:
1. High school diploma or GED certificate and must be at least 18 years of age
2. Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
3. Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with children, youth, and coworkers.
4. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and over, sit and rise from the floor, walk, bend, and stoop and stand on a routine basis. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
5. Ability to satisfactorily complete Tier 1 background investigation, to include state checks, upon hiring and renew every 5 years.
6. Ability to satisfactorily pass the Civilian Medical Clearance Examination that is performed at preplacement and then every two years for every childcare position type.
