Job Summary 
 The Outside Plant Engineer will be responsible for the application engineering of telecommunications outside plant in a local serving exchange environment. The Outside Plant Engineer is a subject matter expert of for all technical aspects of outside plant facilities and associated work such as cable sizing, cable counts, cable records and permitting for ROW’s and easements. This position works as a team member with Network Planning, Central Office, Transmission and Operations to support the growth, replacements, and upgrade of telecommunications plant facilities. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

<li> Frontline project management for all construction activities associated with outside plant activity. </li>
<li> Engineering design for outside plant. </li>

<li> Communicate with state, county, city, and national indices to gain information on planned projects that involve growth and changes. </li>
<li> Coordinate with all utilities for project design and construction to utilize joint trench. </li>
<li> Communicate with all peers and departments to insure proper project planning. </li>
<li> Maintain accurate cable records and updates. </li>
<li> Attend pre-construction meetings for project designs. </li>
<li> Apply for all permits as required (State, DNR, City, County, Townships). </li>
<li> Maintain and investigate ROW’s and easements for releases. </li>
<li> Prepare cost estimates for BDT’s. </li>
<li> Respond to DOR’s as needed. </li>
<li> Update records according to As-Builts. </li>
<li> Support sales, marketing, operations and regulatory as needed. </li>

Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li> B.S. in Engineering or equivalent work experience, or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an outside plant position. </li>
<li> Outside plant construction project management experience and inventory management experience. </li>
<li> Experience in ROW, private easement and permitting with local, state, and federal entities. </li>
<li> Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacities. </li>
<li> Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License and satisfactory driving record. </li>

<li>Apply engineering principles to improve the functionality of equipment and systems</li>
<li>Perform independent tasks using experience and sound judgment</li>
<li>Report any hazardous or malfunctioning equipment and assist in resolution</li>
<li>Conduct safety checks to ensure operational compliance</li>
<li>Serve as a backup to the Maintenance Manager when needed</li>
<li>Perform additional duties as assigned by management</li>

Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or 5+ years of hands-on experience</li>
<li>Strong understanding of electrical systems (24v, 110v, 220v, 480v)</li>
<li>Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and temperature controllers</li>
<li>Skilled in troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of electronic systems</li>
<li>Ability to read complex schematics and relay logic circuits</li>
<li>Proficient in using multimeters and testing tools</li>
<li>Solid Microsoft Office skills</li>
<li>Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities</li>
<li>Ability to follow complex instructions and work independently</li>
<li>Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus</li>
<li>Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred</li>
</ul>
Work Environment:
<ul>
<li>Manufacturing facility with ambient temperatures up to 110&amp;degree;F</li>
<li>Personal protective equipment (PPE) required in production areas (eye, hearing, and foot protection)</li>
</ul>
Physical Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Frequent walking and moderate physical labor</li>
<li>Must be able to lift and carry materials</li>
<li>Ability to distinguish color-coded wires and read detailed wiring schematics</li>
