SALARY: The base salary for attorney positions is $220,000 - $250,000, depending upon class year.

The Trademark and Brand Management Group is seeking a Trademark Associate, this position will involve working on trademark issues for some of the most well-known brands in the world, as well as on cutting edge issues in the field. The ideal candidate will counsel clients on trademark clearance, prepare and prosecute trademark applications, draft and negotiate trademark licenses and co-existence agreements, craft and implement trademark enforcement programs, and participate in all aspects of TTAB proceedings. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide thoughtful and timely advice to clients concerning the risks associated with use and registration of trademarks, proper trademark use to enhance the value of their brands, and strategies for trademark enforcement.
- Conduct, analyze, and provide practical advice with respect to trademark clearance searches.
- Prepare and prosecute trademark applications, including crafting identification of services and responses to Office Actions.
- Draft, review, negotiate and interpret trademark agreements.
- Assist with all aspects of trademark enforcement, including cease and desist letters, online takedown notices, and TTAB proceedings (drafting of pleadings, discovery, and motions and participating in conferences, oral arguments, and settlement negotiations).
- Research, analyze and apply relevant statutes and case law to clients’ trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement efforts.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to manage multiple matters and multiple clients, working with all the partners in the Group, with pragmatism, diligence, collegiality, and excellent judgment.
- Demonstrated interest in areas relevant to our practice area, such as review and analysis of trademark searches, preparation and prosecution of trademark applications (including drafting responses to Office Actions), and participation in TTAB proceedings.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Aderant Expert Time (or a similar timekeeping program).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 2 – 7 years of post-law school experience.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.), strong academic credentials, and must be a member of the New York Bar.
