GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: Assist Attractions Managers and Supervisors in leading the Elevator Operator team. Take a leading role in the training, advancement, and success of the Elevator Operator program. Consistently display an upbeat attitude and engaging personality. Ensure the delivery of world-class service in the department by monitoring performance and giving feedback to Team Members. Function as a liaison between Elevator Operators and management and discuss ideas and concerns at regular meetings.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in guest service through the provision of engaging and entertaining elevator experiences.
  • Ensure that all Elevator Operators are meeting the standards of providing personalized and engaging elevator trips.
  • Be able to collaborate with all Team Members despite operational challenges and personal differences.
  • Must timely and creatively problem solve in the presence of guests.
  • Be able to administer professional, informal coaching to Team Members where necessary to improve performance.
  • Seek ways to enhance guest experience on elevators and in other areas of operation.
  • Maintain a high degree of communication with management and assume the role of first in command of the Elevator Operators when necessary.
  • Ensure that all Elevator Operators are equipped for their duties.
  • Create and supervise daily break schedules.
  • Monitor and coach Elevator Operators concerning uniform, grooming, loading, elevator movement, queuing and other significant policies.
  • Attend monthly Attractions Leadership meetings and provide an update on the department.
  • Meet weekly with the direct manager to advise them of Elevator Operator issues and needs.
  • Inform Elevator Operators of upcoming events within the Space Needle and in the Seattle Center area.
  • Assist Manager and Supervisor in preparing Elevator Operator meetings.
  • Take the meeting minutes in departmental meetings, type and distribute to team. Review notes with absent team members.
  • Update and prepare all training material and facilitate the training of all new Elevator Operators. Complete a training checklist for all new hires.
  • Maintain and report the elevator logs.
  • Understand and be conversant about SkyQ Kiosks, ticket options, and I am Seattle concept.
  • Promote all Space Needle initiatives.
  • Participate in the Elevator PIC (person-in-charge) program.
  • All other duties and skills assigned to the Elevator Operator position.
  • Any other responsibilities as defined by management.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Know Space Needle emergency and fire/life/safety procedures.
  • Know general Space Needle Security procedures.
  • Participate in elevator task force and then train or retrain Elevator Operators on new policies or initiatives.
  • Serve as a floor warden.
  • Reassure the guest in times of emergency.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work special events with varying hours (early openings and late closings).
  • Ability to work full time with full availability during the peak season (May 1st-Sept 15th), school breaks (Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.), and the winter holiday season.
  • Ability to work at least one Saturday or Sunday shift per week.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 4 days in non-peak times (unless more time is required to meet the demands of the business).

  • Great rapport with other Elevator Operators, Supervisors, Leads, and Managers.
  • Proven peer leader and history of natural leadership.
  • Able to be a role model and promote professionalism amongst Elevator Operators.
  • Ability to react quickly and correctly in a fast-paced environment through creative problem solving.
  • Strong initiative and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to become CPR and First Aid certified.

Full Time, Hourly Position

Hourly Rate: $24.51 to $25.72 depending upon tenure
