Miami Dade College, Medical Campus is now accepting applications for Department Chairperson, RN-BSN Program. The Chairperson is one of three Chairs that report to the Dean of the School of Nursing. The Chairperson provides academic leadership for the School of Nursing Programs
- Facilitates development and implementation of curricula
- Communicates with full-time and part-time faculty on curriculum and instruction matters and ensures ongoing development of staff
- Ensures that School of Nursing programs are in compliance with Florida Department of Education and Nursing Education Accreditation
- Manages program resources
- Secures additional resources to support the programs through grant-writing, partnerships, contributions, and sponsorships
- Maintains data to support systematic program evaluation
- Teaches at least one course within the discipline per academic year
- Hires, evaluates, and supervises full and part-time personnel
- Supervises faculty
- Resolves issues and problems that may arise with faculty, staff, and students
- Devises and supervises student recruitment and retention efforts
- Ensures efficient and effective student advisement
- Provides support and advice in the collective bargaining process, and assures adherence to relevant areas of the collective bargaining agreement
- Works closely with the Dean of the Benjamin Leon School of Nursing and Campus Presidents
- Serves as an integral member of College and Campus administrative teams
- Serves on program, Campus, and College policies, procedures, and guidelines Committees
Requirements:
- Florida License Registered Nurse or eligibility as a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Master’s degree in Nursing with five (5) years’ experience in Nursing, administrative experience and teaching college-level courses in an appropriate discipline or relevant clinical experience
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and polices and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of instructional systems development, training methods, techniques, and formats
- Knowledge of the requirements of accreditation agencies
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
- Skill in budget preparation and management
- Possess computer application skills
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
- Ability to travel between program locations
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment
