The Middle School Director leads middle school students to know and love God. They oversee all aspects of programming for middle school services
and partners with families and volunteer teams to help students grow in their faith. This person reports to the Student Pastor.
Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position requiring 40-45 hours per week. The schedule includes hours on Sundays, Wednesday evenings, designated office hours during the week, and occasional flexibility for events outside of regular hours.
Qualifications
- Education: Degree in ministry, education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
Proven experience leading youth-focused environments, communicating with both students and parents, and managing teams. Experience in a large-church or multi-service context is preferred. - License: A valid PA drivers license
- Specific Abilities:
- Communicate Gods Word in a way that is clear, biblical, and relevant to middle school students.
- Build trust with students and parents through active listening, appropriate care, and timely communication.
- Lead and empower volunteers of all ages with vision, clarity, and encouragement.
- Collaborate across ministry departments and contribute to a healthy team culture.
- Embrace digital communication tools and social media platforms relevant to youth and families.
- Demonstrate professionalism, responsibility, and discretion in handling confidential matters.
What This Person Does
- Teach the Bible in age-appropriate, engaging, and theologically sound ways during weekly services and special events.
- Plan and lead all weekly programming for grades 78, including teaching, worship, games, small groups, and digital engagement.
- Support 5th and 6th grade ministry on Sundays through hosting, speaking, and group leadership as needed.
- Provide care and discipleship, including one-on-one mentoring and connecting with students at school events or in community settings.
- Maintain regular communication with families, offering updates, resources, and support through email, texting, and social media.
- Lead and grow a multi-generational team of volunteer leaders, providing training, care, and spiritual development.
- Plan and execute age-appropriate events such as retreats, camps, service projects, and outreach opportunities.
- Equip students to serve within the church and community, developing a heart for others and opportunities for hands-on ministry.
- Track engagement and follow-up, using church data systems to monitor attendance, spiritual milestones, and care needs.
- Oversee the middle school ministry budget, planning strategically and stewarding resources wisely.
- Collaborate with other ministry teams, especially Childrens and High School Ministries, to ensure a cohesive discipleship path.
- Commit to ongoing development as a leader and learner, staying current on trends in youth ministry, participating in conferences and coaching, and remaining teachable in all seasons of ministry.
- Other duties as assigned.
