Position Overview:
Field Service Engineer – (Hybrid Role)
As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting our customers by providing technical services both in the field and at our Indianapolis Service Depot. You’ll be responsible for diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of laboratory and temperature-controlled equipment including chillers, freezers, incubators, and remote monitoring systems.
This position combines in-shop repair and customer-site field service, requiring a balance of independence, initiative, and technical skill.
What you’ll do:
- Perform installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs on scientific and laboratory equipment
- Conduct equipment evaluations and diagnostic testing in-shop and on-site
- Troubleshoot scientific and cascade refrigeration systems
- Document work performed and manage service records and inventory
- Travel as needed for training and field support (up to 30%)
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in refrigeration service techniques, including recovery, brazing, evacuation, charging procedures and testing operation.
- Basic electrical knowledge: schematics, transformers, switches, and circuits
- Familiarity with pumps and plumbing systems; pump curve understanding a plus
- Mechanical aptitude with a strong focus on troubleshooting and diagnostics
- EPA 608 certification or similar qualifications
- Valid driver’s license; ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with recirculating chillers, ultra-low freezers, or biomedical equipment
- Previous field service or depot repair experience
- Self-starter with high motivation and customer-service mindset
