Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instruction for students in a K-12 educational setting in Wilmington, NC. This contract position runs through the school year and calls for a passionate educator dedicated to supporting visually impaired students' academic and developmental growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and create individualized education plans tailored to the needs of visually impaired students.
- Deliver direct instruction in core academic subjects and adaptive skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to ensure effective learning environments.
- Utilize assistive technology and specialized teaching methods for visually impaired learners.
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required.
- Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired.
- Knowledge of Braille instruction and assistive technologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs.
