Fiber Splicer – Contract to Hire

Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Start: Immediate

Location: Osceola, WI

Travel: Mostly Central Wisconsin; occasional travel within US and some weekend stays

Pay: Up to $35/hour DOE

Perks: Company truck, fuel card, paid lodging for overnights, $40/day per diem on overnight travel

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer to support a high-volume FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) build in the Turtle Lake, WI area. This role requires strong hands-on splicing skills, including loose-tube single-fiber splicing and high-count ribbon splicing up to 432-count.

If you’re a self-starting field technician who takes pride in quality splicing, testing accuracy, and efficient fieldwork and you’re open to a contract-to-hire path, this is a great fit. Experience training or mentoring other technicians is a major plus.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing for FTTH deployments
  • Execute OTDR, power meter, and light source testing to verify network performance
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues in both aerial and underground environments
  • Read and interpret splicing diagrams, schematics, and work orders
  • Maintain accurate splicing records and test documentation
  • Provide updates to project managers and ensure deadlines are met
  • Work primarily in the ABQ market with occasional out-of-state travel

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Fiber Splicer or Cable Splicer/Tester
  • Strong proficiency with loose-tube and ribbon splicing up to 432-count
  • Solid understanding of fiber testing equipment and documentation standards
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a field team
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license company truck provided when needed
  • Willingness to travel occasionally including some weekend work
  • Preferred: Experience teaching or mentoring others on splicing techniques
  • Preferred: Bucket truck experience or CDL
