Job Description
Two of Duvera's prominent law firms are seeking a skilled Defense Litigation Paralegals to join their teams in downtown Houston.
Position Overview:
The roles offer the opportunity to work closely with attorneys across their litigation practice groups, providing comprehensive support from initial case assessment through trial. The position reports to both the Supervising Shareholders and Associates as well as HR.
These are hybrid roles, requiring four days onsite and one remote day per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions in collaboration with attorneys
- Prepare client correspondence and assist with communication throughout the case
- Support attorneys during depositions, hearings, trials, and arbitrations, including preparing exhibits and organizing materials
- Assemble hearing and trial materials, such as notebooks, witness kits, and subpoenas
- Coordinate the collection of records (medical, employment, etc.) and manage third-party releases
- Perform legal research, cite-checking, and draft summaries as needed
- Assist with locating and managing expert witnesses, including coordinating deadlines and document sharing
- Summarize deposition transcripts and medical records
- Maintain organized case files and discovery materials, including ESI management using Relativity
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience supporting litigation in a private firm, including trial or arbitration exposure
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; paralegal certificate strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience using ESI platforms
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly formatting and Styles in Word
- Willingness to work extended hours or weekends when preparing for trial/arbitration
- Ability to travel for trial/arbitration support, if needed
