Experience in a supervisory or management role, even if not in engineering, is valuable. This experience helps develop leadership and people management skills. Experience as an engineer is usually required to become a supervisor. This ensures a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the work being supervised.
Project Management: Skills in planning, organizing, and overseeing engineering projects to ensure they meet quality standards and deadlines.
Responsibilities and authorities:
Authorities:
o Decision-Making: Authority to make decisions related to engineering processes, quality control, and project management.
o Resource Allocation: Authority over the allocation of resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to meet engineering objectives.
o Process Compliance: Authority to enforce compliance with ISO standards and other relevant regulations within the engineering department.
o Continuous Improvement
o Authority to identify areas for improvement within engineering processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency and quality.
o Training and Development: Authority to implement training programs for engineering staff to ensure ongoing skill development and compliance with standards.
· Responsibilities:
o Quality Management (ISO 9001) Ensuring that engineering processes adhere to quality management principles, meeting customer requirements and continuous improvement.
o Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001): Implementing safety measures and procedures to protect the health and well-being of engineering staff.
o Environmental Management (ISO 14001): Integrating environmental considerations into engineering processes to minimize the impact on the environment.
o Information Security Management (ISO 27001): Protecting sensitive engineering data and ensuring the security of information systems.
o Energy Management (ISO 50001): Implementing practices to improve energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of engineering activities.
o Automotive Quality Management (IATF 16949): / Ensuring that engineering processes in the automotive industry meet specific quality standards.
