Scopes Landscape (formerly Davis Landscape) is currently seeking an experienced Irrigation Repair and Installation Technician to join our growing Maintenance Division. This position plays a critical role in the troubleshooting and repair of irrigation systems for our commercial clients. You will be responsible for ensuring that our customers’ irrigation systems are functioning properly, efficiently and sustainably. You'll use your knowledge of hydraulics, electrical components, water conservation practices, and industry standards to repair and maintain systems that promote healthy landscapes while optimizing water usage.

Primary Responsibilities:

Repair & Maintenance:

  • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation issues such as broken pipes, malfunctioning valves, faulty controllers, wiring problems, or clogged nozzles.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and seasonal adjustments (spring start-ups and winterizations/blowouts).
  • Diagnose electrical faults and hydraulic problems in automated systems.
  • Identify inefficient water usage and provide solutions to reduce waste, such as zone reconfiguration or upgrading to smart irrigation technologies.
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair calls and service requests.

Installation:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, landscape designs, and irrigation plans to determine the layout of systems.
  • Install irrigation systems including trenching or boring, laying pipes, wiring controllers, and placing sprinkler heads or drip emitters.
  • Set up and program irrigation timers/controllers to meet the specific needs of each landscape.
  • Ensure all components, including valves, pressure regulators, and backflow prevention devices, are installed correctly and in compliance with local codes.
  • Collaborate with the landscaping team to integrate irrigation systems into new or existing landscapes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with irrigation system installation, service, or repair (residential and/or commercial).
  • Familiarity with both conventional and two-wire systems.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, trenching equipment, and electronic diagnostics.
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, valves, timers/controllers, piping, and water pressure systems.
  • Familiarity with local and state regulations for irrigation, backflow prevention, and water usage.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple job sites.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers and coworkers.
  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, digging trenches, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

  • Backflow Prevention Tester certification.
  • Knowledge of smart irrigation systems (e.g., Rain Bird, Hunter Hydrawise, Rachio).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Experience with landscape lighting or water feature systems is a bonus.

Schedule & Work Conditions:

  • Typical schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Some weekends/overtime during peak season).
  • Outdoor, hands-on work in various weather conditions.
  • Travel required to job sites across metro Atlanta area
