Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Rate: $26-$32/hour

Job Summary
The Instrument Test Technician II conducts production testing of assembled flow cytometers and related medical device products. This role may involve system integration and a variety of electronic, mechanical, optical, fluidic, and electromechanical activities on complete systems, subassemblies, and components to ensure products meet design and performance specifications.
The technician performs system-level and subassembly-level troubleshooting to identify root causes of failures and implements corrective actions related to assembly or material defects. This position requires independent judgment, technical initiative, and collaboration in a team-oriented manufacturing environment to ensure high-quality products are delivered on schedule.
Essential Functions
- Perform instrument optimization following final assembly, including laser alignment, pressure adjustments, and electrical adjustments
- Conduct final production testing and inspection to verify compliance with performance specifications and standards
- Analyze test results on defective units to determine root causes of failures
- Repair or replace defective components or assemblies and complete required documentation
- Coordinate with assembly teams when units require rework
- Compare test results against specifications and accurately record, plot, and document data
- Generate documentation required to complete Device History Records (DHR)
- Collaborate with engineering support to resolve complex or unique technical issues
- Read and interpret detailed test instructions, assembly instructions, work orders, SOPs, BOMs, and related documentation
- Confer with engineers, technicians, QA, and production personnel to resolve testing and quality issues
- Develop, document, and improve troubleshooting techniques
- Provide feedback on test methods, production processes, and product design to support continuous improvement
- Support project teams focused on quality improvement, cost reduction, cycle time reduction, reliability improvement, operational efficiency, and new product introduction
- Assist in creating and updating process and product documentation
- Collect, document, and review key measurements and performance metrics
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Accurately complete time sheets and required paperwork on time
- Maintain training records and stay current on required certifications
- Comply with regulatory, environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) policies and procedures
- Report hazardous conditions or unsafe practices to supervision
- Participate in regulatory and EH&S training as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, probability, and basic statistical inference
- Good mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs daily and perform reaching and bending tasks
- Hands-on experience using DVMs, oscilloscopes, and general electronic test equipment
- Proficiency with PCs or Macs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows and/or macOS
- Willingness to cross-train in other production areas as needed
- Knowledge of and adherence to workplace safety procedures
- Exposure to ISO 9000 and cGMP (21 CFR Part 820) environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a medical device manufacturing environment
- Experience testing and troubleshooting laser-based optical systems, fluidic systems, and digital/analog circuitry
- Strong experience with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- Advanced knowledge of PC hardware and networking environments
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 9000 and cGMP (21 CFR Part 820)
- Familiarity with LEAN Manufacturing, Six Sigma tools, and Demand Flow Technology (DFT)
