Who are you:


The Facilities Manager oversees the maintenance, safety, and daily operations of all organizational facilities, including emergency and transitional shelters, administrative offices, and a community resource center with a food pantry and meal program. This role ensures facilities are safe, clean, accessible, and fully operational, supporting the organization's mission and the dignity of the people we serve. The Facilities Manager supervises staff and vendors, manages budgets, and ensures compliance with applicable codes and regulations


What will you be doing:


  • Maintain shelters, other program buildings and administrative offices, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and compliance with Massachusetts building, fire, and health codes.
  • Manage emergency repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections, tracking requests to resolution.
  • Manage all vendors and contractors, ensuring quality, safety, and budget compliance.
  • Lead emergency preparedness, safety drills, and regulatory compliance efforts in collaboration with organization's leadership.
  • Plan and coordinate facility upgrades, renovations, moves, and capital improvement projects in collaboration with organization's leadership.
  • Develop and manage department budgets, maintain inventories, and track inspections, warranties, and permits in collaboration with organization's leadership.
  • Supervise and train facility staff, promoting accountability, safety, and high-quality service.


Our ideal candidate has:

  • 5+ years of facilities management experience, preferably in shelters, residential, or institutional settings.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts building, fire, and health codes; familiarity with shelter and food safety regulations.
  • Hands-on maintenance skills (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
  • Strong project management, vendor coordination, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management systems.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies during evenings/weekends.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Preferred: experience in nonprofit or social service organizations, relevant certifications (OSHA, FMP, CFM), and bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese.

  • On-site work across multiple locations in Peabody.
  • Physical tasks include lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, standing, and climbing ladders.
  • Occasional evenings or weekends required for emergencies, inspections, or special projects.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, work on a computer, and navigate stairs.
  • Must pass CORI check and maintain an acceptable driving record. DOT card required
