Job Title: Network Support – Cabling & Documentation (GGC - 778320)

About the Role
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Network Support Technician with a strong focus on cabling, documentation, and network closet organization. The ideal candidate will assist in cleaning up, labeling, and documenting existing copper and fiber connections while maintaining a professional, organized network environment. This position requires strong attention to detail, basic cabling knowledge, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for data tracking and documentation.
Key Responsibilities

Document and verify existing copper and fiber cabling connections in network closets.

Update and maintain Excel-based network documentation on a per-closet basis.

Use a laptop and label printer to create and apply labels for fiber patch panels and cables.

Notify the Director of Enterprise Infrastructure regarding any issues or irregularities found.

Perform light cleanup and organization of network closets, ensuring proper cable management.

Assist with cable routing, identification, and verification as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Visual acuity to accurately read and verify existing cable labels.

Basic understanding of fiber and copper cabling types and connectors:

Fiber types: Single-mode (SM) vs. Multimode (MM)

Connector types: ST, SC, LC, MPO, RJ45, etc.

Ability to trace cables and identify active/inactive connections.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, OneDrive).

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Candidate will NOT perform any administrative or configuration tasks on network devices, firewalls, or systems.
