TrueNorth is looking for a Community Impact Intern to work with our Community Impact Director. As a Community Impact Intern, you will grow your communications and project management skills while working closely with our Community Impact Director (CID) to maximize our efforts around Purpose-Driven Company Pillars deployed through annual giving, grant funding and our communication strategies to support our volunteer engagement and community relations outreach plan. This internship will include projects and tasks that relate to philanthropy (corporate giving and volunteerism) as well as enterprise projects and will provide opportunities for personal and professional development while working in a collaborative team environment.

Our internship program is a 11-week paid program, running May – August 2026. This position will be fully on site in our Cedar Rapids, IA office.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work alongside the CID in managing TrueNorth’s community impact and the day-to-day activities of TrueNorth’s purpose-related initiatives and commitments
- Supports internal and external communication with key stakeholders
- Assist in executing the following initiatives and functions of TrueNorth: “Core” Sponsorship, Community Outreach Team, and TrueNorth Legacy Foundation
- Support the CID in communicating across executive and departmental leaders in relation to TrueNorth’s Purpose-Driven Business initiatives and commitments
- Assist in creating and managing communications processes regarding the positive impacts of TrueNorth’s Purpose-Driven Company initiatives and commitments
- Manage Community Impact software
- Uphold project management needs
- Other duties, as assigned
Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Must be of Junior or Senior status, currently pursuing a degree or certificate in communications, marketing, project management or related field
- Experience in corporate social impact, philanthropy, or general business operations preferred
- Prior internship or job experience preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and build project schedules
- The ability to work successfully in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented and able to track financials, event dates, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ideal candidates will have a genuine interest in the insurance industry as well as community engagement as a volunteer or member within the non-profit community
