General Statement of Duties
Answers incoming telephone calls and routes to appropriate department or staff member. Creates new patient charts, and schedules appointments for patients using health center’s electronic health records software.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
· Schedules patients in accordance with established provider schedules and health center protocols
· Obtains and/or verifies that current demographic information is accurate and updates information in the system as needed
· Obtains and/or verifies insurance status and updates information in the system as needed
· Creates accounts for new patients
· Creates telephone encounters and routes to the appropriate party or transfers to voicemail
· Communicates test results and referral and prescription status
· Responds to and routes EMR messages from clinical staff and patients
· Monitors patient portal for schedule requests and customer service questions
· Monitors appointment reminder platform and responds to patients as needed
· Maintains strict patient confidentiality
· Advises patients of health center policies regarding scheduling, payments, no-shows, etc. and answers questions as appropriate, advises patients to bring in necessary financial and/or insurance documentation as indicated
· Assists with filing, copying, faxing, and other clerical duties when time is available and at direction of Operations Manager
· Participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and other meetings as directed
· Adhere to HIPAA policies and regulations
· Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
· Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products: Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point
· Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Centers
· Prior education or equivalent work experience in a health care setting
Physical Demands Required to Fulfill Essential Functions of this Position
Employee must be able to: sit or stand for long periods of time; focus on tasks while in an active office environment where conversation and noise is prevalent; operate a keyboard, write, speak, and hear; read small print both on paper and on a computer screen for long periods of time and, occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

· Submit to and pass a drug test
· Successfully complete a criminal background check
· Maintain HIPAA compliance and follow confidentiality policies to protect organizational information

· Work beyond normal working hours, including weekends, if applicable and when required
Working Conditions
There may be exposure to airborne and blood-borne pathogens, and hazardous materials. This position may include working remotely.
