Are you a skilled maintenance professional with strong leadership abilities and a passion for operational excellence? American Communities is seeking a Floating Lead Maintenance Technician to oversee maintenance operations across multiple apartments in the Plano and Dallas area.
In this mobile leadership role, you will supervise and support on-site maintenance teams, delegate and assist with repair work, and ensure top-tier service across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and more. Your hands-on expertise will help drive curb appeal, resident satisfaction, and asset preservation across a portfolio of Class A to C properties.
You’ll play a key role in managing vendor coordination, preventative maintenance planning, and ensuring work quality and compliance with company standards. Flexibility, adaptability, and strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll work closely with various community managers and regional leadership.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and technical support to on-site maintenance teams

Complete and oversee repairs in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances, and general maintenance

Coordinate with vendors and ensure timely completion of contracted work

Conduct inspections and ensure units meet quality standards before move-ins

Assist with training junior technicians and promoting safety best practices

Support emergency response and high-volume service periods as needed
Qualifications:

3+ years of multifamily maintenance experience, including supervisory responsibilities

Strong troubleshooting skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances

EPA certification preferred

Reliable transportation and ability to travel between properties daily

Strong communication and organizational skills
