This is a remote position.
At First Due, we’re transforming the way Fire and EMS agencies prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. With a growing customer base and increasing demand for high-availability secure systems, we’re looking for a talented FedRAMP Infrastructure Engineer to help scale and secure the backbone of our platform and help manage our FedRAMP / IL5 environments.
As A FedRAMP Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our FedRAMP / IL5 authorized systems as well as performing code updates, troubleshooting, and data deployments. You will manage key aspects of our infrastructure, from Linux systems and PostgreSQL databases to cloud services and automation pipelines. This role involves close collaboration with our Development and Federal teams to support government-grade FedRAMP / IL5 Authorized Environments.
Requirements
The Role
As a FedRAMP Infrastructure Engineer, you will support the following areas:
· Deployment & Federal Support
- Support application deployments, updates, patching, and troubleshooting across FedRAMP / IL 5 authorized environments.
- Provide 24/7 support for critical infrastructure issues in FedRAMP / IL5 authorized environments.
· PostgreSQL Administration
- Maintain and optimize PostgreSQL databases for high availability, performance, and security in FedRAMP / IL5 Authorized environments.
- Implement and manage replication, backups, clustering, and disaster recovery strategies.
· Linux Systems Management
- Administer Debian-based servers including package management, kernel tuning, security patching, and service management
- Monitor system performance and identify real-time bottlenecks or resource constraints.
- Knowledge of Ubuntu Pro
· Infrastructure Automation & Scripting
- Develop Bash scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
- Use Ansible to manage infrastructure as code across environments.
- Experience with Version Control Systems (Git)
· Web Server & Application Infrastructure
- Install, configure, and secure NGINX or other web servers.
- Manage and configure additional services including REDIS, Postfix, NFS, Supervisor etc.
- Manage SSL/TLS, and load balancing setups.
· Cloud Infrastructure (AWS/GCP)
· Design and maintain scalable, cost-effective cloud architectures using AWS (EC2, RDS, IAM, VPC, S3) or GCP.
· Monitoring & Troubleshooting
· Set up infrastructure and performance monitoring tools.
· Diagnose and resolve complex system and network issues.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
· 7+ years of experience in Linux system administration (preferably Debian-based systems).
· DoD Active Clearance - Minimum Secret Level and DoD 8570 IAT LII or 8140
· Experience working in or supporting FedRAMP High or DoD IL5 environments.
· Strong Bash scripting and automation skills.
· Proficiency with configuration management tools like Ansible.
· Deep experience with PostgreSQL performance tuning, replication, and recovery.
· Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS and/or GCP, including infrastructure-as-code.
· Experience with deploying and securing web applications using NGINX.
· Familiarity with monitoring tools and methodologies (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
· Proven ability to troubleshoot performance, latency, and availability issues across a distributed stack.
· Knowledge of server hardening, secure configurations, and compliance best practices.
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
· Familiarity with secure cloud architectures and zero-trust principles.
