Application Architect

We are partnering with a forward-looking organization seeking a seasoned Application Architect to provide technical leadership across application engineering efforts. This individual will play a pivotal role in defining architectural direction, improving engineering standards, and enabling teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience, a passion for mentorship, and the ability to influence technical outcomes across multiple teams without relying on authority alone.
What You’ll Do
- Architect and design scalable, maintainable software platforms and shared frameworks used across multiple engineering teams
- Define and evolve application engineering standards, partnering with engineers to ensure practical and consistent adoption
- Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks, identifying opportunities for responsible innovation
- Champion modern SDLC practices, continuous improvement, and high-quality engineering outcomes
- Modernize and refactor existing systems to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for engineers at varying levels
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to align solutions with functional and non-functional requirements
- Own assigned initiatives end-to-end, including estimation, execution, risk management, and delivery
- Communicate progress, milestones, and technical considerations to leadership and cross-functional partners
- Contribute to quality assurance efforts and support production releases, including deployment and validation activities
- Mentor engineers, foster technical growth, and encourage thoughtful disruption of legacy approaches
- Independently plan and execute targeted technical initiatives
- Build strong, professional relationships across engineering and adjacent teams
- Perform additional responsibilities aligned with the role as needed
What You’ll Need
- 10+ years of professional experience building applications using .NET and SQL Server–based technologies
- 4+ years of experience in a senior technical leadership, lead engineer, or architecture-focused role
- Strong background in unit testing and quality-driven development practices
- Demonstrated success designing and delivering scalable, enterprise-grade systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in fast-moving environments and adapt to change
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and self-direction
- Comfort working independently while also collaborating across teams
- Recognized expertise in at least two technical domains
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Experience
- Experience with N-tier architectures and SaaS-based platforms
- Practical use of AI-enabled tools to improve engineering productivity, performance, or decision-making
- Ability to apply AI technologies to streamline workflows and enhance development processes
- Curiosity and adaptability when exploring emerging technologies, with a mindset for continuous learning and experimentation
