Title: NSC Program Manager

Location: Bronx, NY

Reports to: Director of Community Affairs

Status: Full-time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: $75k


Summary

The Neighborhood Safety Council (NSC) Program Manager will coordinate and facilitate a community-based safety council in the 44th Precinct as part of NYC's Gun Violence Prevention Task Force (GVPTF). This position requires a dynamic, community-oriented professional who can build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, facilitate collaborative planning processes, and coordinate implementation of neighborhood safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

•Recruit and orient Neighborhood Safety Council members representing diverse sectors including residents, community organizations, faith institutions, businesses, schools, and government agencies

•Facilitate monthly NSC meetings and support bi-weekly subcommittee meetings

•Lead the development of a comprehensive Neighborhood Safety Action Plan aligned with GVPTF strategies

•Coordinate implementation of community safety projects across seven strategy areas

•Supervise Outreach Worker(s) and manage program administration

•Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including NYPD representatives, elected officials, and community organizations

•Manage program documentation and reporting to DYCD

•Represent the NSC at GVPTF strategy sessions and other relevant forums

•Monitor program budget and ensure fiscal compliance


Required Qualifications

•Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, or related field

•Minimum 3 years of experience in community coalition building or similar role

•Demonstrated experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and BIPOC communities

•Strong understanding of substance use prevention strategies

•Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting

•Excellent project management and organizational skills

•Proven experience in team management and staff supervision.

•Self-directed and solutions oriented.

•Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.

•Must pass drug screening to be appointed.


Qualifications

•Bachelor's degree in social work, community organizing, urban planning, public administration, or related field required

•Minimum three years of experience coordinating community-based initiatives, preferably related to public safety, violence prevention, or community development

•Demonstrated experience facilitating diverse stakeholder groups and building consensus around shared objectives

•Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Experience working in the Bronx, particularly within the 44th Precinct, strongly preferred

•Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desired

•Familiarity with violence prevention frameworks and community safety approaches

•Experience working with diverse community stakeholders, including law enforcement

•Knowledge of NYC government systems and community resources

•Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural competence

•Proficiency with data collection, analysis, and reporting

•Strong organizational and time management skills

•Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for community meetings and events


Physical Demands and Working Environment:

•Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

•Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

•Must be able to travel to multiple sites as needed.


Additional Information

•This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment.

•Schedule will be flexible within program needs

•Evening and weekend hours may be required for specific events
