We are seeking an Operations and Maintenance Manager to oversee and coordinate the maintenance, repair, and operational activities of a water utility company. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance. This role requires a proactive approach to facilities management, with a focus on continuous improvement. Experience in the water utility industry or WDM I certification preferred, but not required.
Duties
Lead and supervise maintenance staff, including prioritizing and assigning work.
Communicates with office staff and supervisor and complete reports and provide daily logs of services performed.
Develop and implement maintenance strategies and schedules.
Support the Administrator and Board of Directors by providing operations updates.
Manage facilities management activities including distribution system, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and safety protocols.
Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on equipment.
Order, receive, inventory, and control materials and supplies, maintain shop and yards in a clean and orderly manner.
Coordinate projects related to facility upgrades, system installations, or process improvements with board of directors, vendors and contractors.
Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities, system performance, and compliance records.
Supervise daily operations ensuring minimal downtime while optimizing productivity.
Provide leadership in emergency situations or system failures to restore operations swiftly.
Ensures personnel safety through leadership and participation in safety meetings, knowledge of safety standards, and adherence to established policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills
Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and diagrams effectively.
Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices including mechanical and electrical, with experience in troubleshooting.
General office equipment operation.
Prompt, professional, and efficient in customer service.
Leadership qualities with a focus on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Management experience with supervisory skills preferred.
Project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, preferred.
This position offers an opportunity for a candidate to gain additional skills and obtain WDM I certification. Can be entry level for the right candidate.
