Weber Gallagher has an immediate opening for an Associate for our General Liability group. The candidate will have the flexibility to work remotely from Pennsylvania, with a preference for candidates local to Pittsburgh. The Associate will work closely with our senior attorneys, gaining hands-on experience in determining third-party responsibility for various matters including general liability, products liability, construction defects and premises liability. Our attorneys represent insurance carriers, corporations, and self-insureds.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.
- Conduct case evaluations, develop litigation strategy, and advise clients on risk assessment and potential exposure.
- Review and analyze claim files to identify subrogation potential and recovery opportunities.
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, prepare trial briefs, oversee discovery, including expert witness preparation.
- Support the preparation and filing of lawsuits to recover funds from responsible third parties.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop sound case strategies.
- Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, depositions, hearings and trials.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing regular and timely updates to clients on case status, strategy, and potential outcomes.
- Collaborate with adjusters, recovery specialists, and outside counsel to pursue recoveries efficiently.
- Stay current on changes in the law.
- Ability to travel for court, client meetings, etc.
Requirements:
- 1-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in general liability, insurance law or subrogation. (We will also consider those who have recently taken and passed the PA Bar exam).
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active and good standing PA bar license; required.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
