Primary Purpose of the Position:
Children's Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group, a 900+ physician academic practice affiliated with Children's Hospital Los Angeles, is looking for a skilled legal assistant to be an integral part of the Risk Management and Legal team for CHLAMG and PMG. This position will report to the CRO/In-House Counsel and provide legal support, including preparation, review, and processing of legal documents, managing files and special projects regarding confidential matters, and managing calendars and scheduling. The ideal candidate will have experience in a law firm and familiarity with the healthcare industry. This is not a remote position as the candidate for this position will be expected to come into the office based in Los Angeles, CA.
Essential Duties of the Position:
• Organizes, reviews and maintains confidential and privileged legal documents and correspondence.
• Reviews contracts and other legal documents.
• Tracks legal expenditures.
• Manages and monitors Risk Management and Legal special projects. These may include insurance renewals, investigations, research, and data collection.
• Collaborates with colleagues working in multidisciplinary teams at the corporate office as well as operational departments across the enterprise.
• Assists with the preparation of presentations and summaries for Senior Management.
• Performs other duties and assists with special projects as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:
• Solid understanding of legal and risk management principles.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft business suite, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong business partnering and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform assigned job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work well in high-pressure situations to meet deadlines.
• Self-starter, high energy, high ownership of work product, and dedication and commitment to driving results.
• Organized, flexible, and easily adaptable to changing conditions.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree; a degree in healthcare and/or legal studies is desired.
• Paralegal certificate desired.
• 2+ years’ experience in a legal field; healthcare industry experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
