 Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana's Family Focused Recovery is seeking a part-time Child Watch worker for our Residential Center, opening Summer of 2025. Shifts are rotational and may include evenings and weekends. 
 The Child Watch worker, under the direction of the Child &amp; Family Specialist, is responsible for watching the children, ages 12 and under, of mothers residing in the residential center while mothers participate in program activities. This individual plans age-appropriate activities for children that promote physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development. This individual ensures all equipment and toys are cleaned, organized and in good working order to ensure safety of children. 
 As the residential center opens, the Child Watch worker must be flexible and support the FFR team in successful launch and scaling of services. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Supervise children's activities and playtime to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. </li>
<li>Attend to children's basic needs, including feeding, changing diapers, and assisting with hygiene.</li>
<li>Comfort and reassure children, especially during times of distress. </li>
<li>Monitor children's behavior and intervene in conflicts.</li>
<li>Ensure a clean and organized environment.</li>
<li>Assist with housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning and organizing. </li>
<li>Communicate regularly with mothers and/or other FFR staff about children's progress, behavior, and any concerns. </li>
<li>Ensure staff-to-child ratio does not exceed 1:3 for infants (18 months and younger) and 1:6 for toddlers and children.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, activities, and any relevant information. </li>
<li>Utilize concurrent documentation and record accurate information in the EHR of each person served within 1 business day.</li>
<li>Prepare reports or documentation as needed.</li>
<li>Responsible for ensuring that all policies, procedures and practices of VOASELA are met.</li>
<li>Perform additional duties as assigned. </li>

<li>Create and maintain a recovery-oriented environment based on the principles of Therapeutic Communities. </li>
<li>Adhere to the designated dress code as stipulated for the specific role.</li>

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
This position requires knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li>
<li>At least 1 year of experience working with children and adolescents.</li>
<li>Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally sensitive practices. </li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Advanced computer skills.</li>
<li>Novice skills within Electronic Health Systems.</li>
<li>Ability to interact with staff at all levels in a respectful manner, remaining flexible, proactive, and task oriented. </li>
<li>Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, accuracy, flexibility, reliability, and prioritizing skills.</li>
<li>Must be able to maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.</li>

<li>Must be able to pass a criminal history investigation (not all convictions will exclude candidates from being hired).</li>
<li>Must pass drug screening tests as required by agency’s policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Must complete tuberculosis (TB) screening prior to employment and be free from Tuberculosis (TB) in a communicable state via skin testing (or chest exam if recommended by physician).</li>
<li>Must be able to maintain First Aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and seizure assessment training.</li>

POSITION SUMMARY:
 
Under the general direction of the Membership Coordinator, the Child Watch Staff employee is responsible for interacting with the children in the nursery, ensuring their safety and well-being.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

<li>Following department SOP’s, sanitize toys at least once a day within accordance of DOH guidelines.</li>

<li>Supervise the overall play area, ensuring the safety of the children.</li>
