JOB SUMMARY: The Childcare + Club J Attendant provides direct care and supervision to children, six months to five years of age, at our drop-in childcare center. The Childcare + Club J Attendant may also help out transporting children to and from recreational sports classes, or act as a camp counselor during Vacation Day Camps (if interested and available).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These examples represent the essential functions of the position. They are not, however, inclusive of all the duties the position may be assigned to perform.)

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position is qualifying. This would typically include:

<li>American Red Cross certifications in First Aid and CPR/AED;</li>
<li>Education sufficient to read, write and perform the duties of the position; and</li>
<li>Responsible experience providing care and supervision to children.</li>
</ul>
Knowledge: Knowledge of childcare practices and techniques. Knowledge of MJCC emergency procedures.
Ability: Ability to communicate effectively with children at their individual developmental levels; ability to supervise and manage groups of varying sizes; ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions; ability to meet and deal courteously and effectively with other employees, parents, and the public; ability to remain calm and use good judgment during confrontational or high-pressure situations that may arise; ability to provide excellent customer service; ability to use good judgment and make decisions within scope of position; ability to be punctual and work a flexible schedule as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an environment that is quite noisy and busy, and may include exposure to biological conditions including body fluids, germs, and childhood illnesses. This position is not required to provide personal care (diaper changes), nor does it require handling of food. Physical requirements may include lifting children or heavy items (up to 50 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, reaching, grasping, standing, and walking. Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Provide daily supervision, coaching, and mentoring to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), ensuring compassionate, person-centered care.</li>
<li>Lead with critical problem-solving skills, addressing challenges proactively and fostering teamwork and accountability.</li>
<li>Oversee Person-Centered Plans (PCPs) and ensure accurate, timely documentation in Therap and QuickMar.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Case Management, QA, and healthcare partners to maintain high-quality, compliant supports.</li>
<li>Manage program budgets, staffing, and schedules to ensure smooth daily operations.</li>
<li>Model positive leadership, professionalism, and respect in all interactions with staff, families, and supported individuals.</li>
<li>Participate in performance reviews, audits, and training initiatives to support continuous improvement.</li>
</ul>
What You Bring
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Behavioral Sciences, or related field preferred.</li>
<li>At least three years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.</li>
<li>Strong leadership abilities with proven skills in coaching, mentoring, and critical problem solving.</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li>
<li>Knowledge of person-centered practices, Positive Behavioral Supports, and DBHDS licensing standards.</li>
<li>Valid Virginia driver’s license and acceptable driving record.</li>
<li>Ability to pass required background checks and pre-employment screenings.</li>
</ul>
Physical &amp; Environmental Requirements

<li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to assist individuals as needed.</li>
<li>Occasional bending, kneeling, and transferring.</li>
<li>Ability to navigate home environments and operate agency vehicles safely.</li>
