<li>Uses professional judgment and critical thinking to prepare, prioritize, and execute the patient's plan of care consistent with patient assessment data, physicians' treatment plans, and professional standards of care.</li>
<li>Implements measures to prevent exposure to infectious pathogens and communicable conditions.</li>
<li>Prepares sterile products to be introduced to the sterile field, utilizing sterile technique. </li>
<li>Demonstrates knowledge of supplies needed for specific procedures performed. </li>
<li>Performs surgical scrub and assists during the procedure.</li>
<li>Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of physiologic parameters and patient safety.</li>
<li>Performs hand hygiene to prevent transmission of microbes in support of patient safety.</li>
<li>Provides call coverage for emergency procedures after scheduled cases and during the weekend on a rotating basis, using self-scheduling, as needed.</li>
<li>Responds to emergency calls as prescribed by guidelines and or policies.</li>
<li>Able to perform nursing function as deemed competent during an emergency procedure.</li>
<li>Prepares patient for procedures by collaborating within an interdisciplinary team to provide physical and emotional support during safe patient care.</li>
<li>Documents all pertinent patient data and communicates with nursing personnel from various floors to report changes in patients' condition and procedures performed.</li>
<li>Has a thorough knowledge of all accessory equipment utilized during procedure.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>
<li>Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments.</li>
<li>Enhances the patient experience by fostering a positive relationship with customers.</li>
<li>Contributes to improving HCAHPS results.</li>
<li>Promotes stewardship of hospital resources while ensuring quality patient care.</li>

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Licensed as a Registered Nurse accepted by Texas State Board of Nursing to engage in professional nursing.</li>
<li>BSN or progression to this degree</li>
<li>Technical, clerical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area.</li>
<li>Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.</li>
<li>Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy.</li>
<li>Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.</li>
</ul>
Preferred:
<ul>
<li>Operating Room Nursing experience within the past 10 years to include one to two years of experience in the specialty area.</li>
<li>National Certification as recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center</li>
