Cooling Engineer – Power & Thermal Equipment | Branchburg, NJ
Direct Hire | $110,000–$140,000 + Profit Sharing + Relocation
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong technical depth in heat transfer and thermal system design to lead the specification, validation, and selection of engineered-to-order cooling equipment used on Air Cooled Steam Condensers and related power generation systems. This position supports the full engineering lifecycle—from design analysis through fabrication review and performance testing—ensuring that all equipment meets stringent thermal, mechanical, and acoustic requirements.
Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in thermal or mechanical design for power, energy, or process systems
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Hands-on experience with heat exchangers, de-aerators, fans, pumps, vacuum systems, ejectors, and steam control valves
• Strong command of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and system hydraulics; experience with finite element or flow modeling preferred
• Familiarity with ASME design codes and equipment specification practices
Key Responsibilities
• Lead thermal and mechanical design validation for large engineered cooling systems
• Generate and review thermal performance curves, noise and control documentation, and process flow diagrams
• Perform hydraulic and flow calculations for duct and pipe sizing, pressure drop, and drainage systems
• Develop and maintain engineering tools and selection programs used for thermal analysis and noise prediction
• Prepare detailed technical specifications and datasheets for vendor bid packages
• Evaluate supplier design software and verify mechanical integrity and performance claims
• Review vendor drawings and fabrication details to ensure compliance with design standards
• Support equipment inspection, testing, and commissioning phases with technical oversight
• Interface with clients, suppliers, and internal project teams to resolve engineering issues and improve product design
