RESPONSIBILITIES:

R&D Technical Execution:

  • Conduct hand, laboratory, and pilot-scale trials for new and reformulated products, generating precise and accurate data reports.
  • Obtain raw materials, perform weighing, and execute product development trials, including pilot and clinical batches.
  • Perform product development equipment set-up, operation, and clean-up.
  • Perform visual inspection and physical testing on intermediates and finished trial products.
  • Maintain all documentation for trial batches in compliance with GMP standards.

Project Management & Site Expansion Support:

  • Play a key role in site expansion and facility build-out projects by providing critical operational and technical input.
  • Serve as a primary R&D liaison for third-party contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers to ensure project alignment with technical requirements and timelines.
  • Support the timely execution of capital projects by coordinating R&D activities with construction and installation schedules.
  • Assist in the commissioning and qualification (C&Q) of new R&D and pilot plant equipment.

Facility & Operational Management:

  • Support facility management activities for the R&D and pilot plant areas, including coordinating maintenance, calibrations, and repairs.
  • Assist in managing site services and infrastructure relevant to the R&D operations to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and compliance within the R&D facilities.
  • Act as lead to R&D Technicians, assigning tasks and prioritizing workloads based on project and operational demands.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other related duties as required to support the strategic and operational goals of the department and site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, or a related field is preferred; equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or R&D environment, with a demonstrated ability to handle increasing responsibility.
  • Proven experience in supporting facility projects, working effectively with third-party contractors, and managing timelines is highly desired.
  • Technical & Professional Skills:
  • Able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry for calculations and layout planning.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Project (or similar project management software).
  • Able to read and interpret technical procedures, SOPs, GMPs, construction plans, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external parties.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and navigate active construction or facility expansion sites as needed.
