Our technician job involves testing raw materials and finished products, maintaining equipment, and supporting research and development or quality control teams. Specific roles can include Product Development Lab Technician or Coatings Application Lab Technician and responsibilities often require a variety of skills and adherence to safety protocols. (This position required HS diploma.) Training will take place on first shift, then will transfer permanently to 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. shift. Must have previous chemical, batch and/or paint blending experience.
- Supporting color matching, product development, or coatings application projects.
- Performing quality control tests on production samples.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
- Collaborating with other teams and adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is often the minimum, but some positions require a bachelor's degree in a science-related field like chemistry or chemical engineering.
- Experience: Entry-level positions may require little to no experience, while others may ask for 1-3 years in a lab environment.
- Skills: General laboratory skills, data review, and the ability to follow instructions are essential. Specialized skills like using specific equipment or understanding regulations may also be necessary depending on the role.
