Patient Account Representative
Location Fort Worth, TX | Onsite
Compensation & Schedule
• $18/hr - $20/hr
• 8:00am–5:00pm training; 8:30am–5:30pm post-training, Monday–Friday
• W2, Temporary (6 months)
• Start: ASAP
ROLE IMPACT
Join a leading healthcare network to ensure accurate and compliant billing across multiple service lines, including Home Health, Rehab, DME, and Infusion. This role directly impacts revenue cycle operations through account reconciliation, claims processing, and resolution of billing issues with payors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform internal audits of medical records to ensure billing compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Process electronic and paper claims for nursing, rehab, DME, and infusion services
• Research and reconcile patient accounts; report financial and volume trends to Patient Account Manager
• Communicate with patients, insurance providers, and internal departments to resolve billing issues and secure payments
• Submit claim reconsiderations and appeals as necessary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma required; some college preferred
• 1+ year medical billing or related experience in a home health setting —OR— 5 years of customer service experience
• 1+ year experience with phone-based customer interaction
• Knowledge of federal/state billing regulations and commercial/Medicaid insurance
CLINICAL SKILL SET
• Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) billing
• Familiarity with CPT/HCPCS codes and ICD-10 coding
• Understanding of benefit verification, prior authorization, and coverage guidelines
• Experience with collections on medical claims
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Prior work with claims appeals and resubmissions
• DME billing experience
• Strong interpersonal and documentation skills
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
• TB test and flu shot required
