Job DescriptionCarpenter / Exhibit FabricatorPay Range: $24-$34/hr. depending on skills and experienceHours: 7:00am – 3:30 PMLunch: 11:30-12:00 PMOT: (10/hr. days and/or weekends) Mandatory during peak workloads

Role & Responsibility:The Exhibit Fabricator is responsible to fabricate and/or assemble parts to create innovative unique display material. Part types may include but are not limited to wood, metal, plastic, acrylic, fabric, electrical, or a/v components. The Exhibit Fabricator, following direction shown in drawings will assemble pre-cut (CNC) parts, purchase items, vendor produced custom parts, and hand fabricated components. The Exhibit Fabricator will communicate with production management to meet design and scheduling objectives. The Exhibit Fabricator must be able to build exhibit items from shop drawings with a solid understanding of construction techniques and materials. Duties include but not limited to:

  1. Setup and use all equipment and facilities related to exhibit fabrication.
  2. Perform duties of basic woodworking, and plastics fabrication.
  3. Integration and assembly of electrical, electronic, and other components that may be integrated in exhibit material.
  4. Install electrical components (Primarily lighting) for intended function.
  5. Install and test A/V components for intended function.
  6. Document materials used and required hours to perform task.
  7. Assemble / Set-up exhibit components pre-shipment.
  8. Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  9. Work in other dept. (Carpentry related) as needed.
  10. Occasional off-site installation.
  11. Maintain whatever it takes attitude.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  1. High school or equivalent
  2. Ability to read drawings proficiently.
  3. Established skills in basic carpentry, wood, plastics, and light metal fabrication techniques.
  4. Proficient use of carpentry hand tools.
  5. Experience with power tools (table saw, panel saw, chop saw, planer, drill press, etc.)
  6. Proficient use of power hand tools (drill, belt sander, sabre saw, etc.)
  7. Forklift: Minimum 1 Year a plus

Skills & Talents:

  • Ability to operate independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to collaborate with fellow Exhibit Fabricators as required for fitment.
  • Must be hands on and willing to ‘jump in’, as needed.
  • Ability to communicate with management and trade labor.
  • Legible handwriting skills
  • Able to use ladders and elevated platforms per OSHA requirements.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Always maintain presentable professional appearance and behavior.
  2. Willingness to learn and adapt to company procedures.
  3. Punctual and able to work OT as required during peak seasons.
  4. Able to lift min 70 lbs.
  5. Supply personal basic hand tools (List to be provided/discussed at interview)
