Job Title: AV Installation Technician – Healthcare & Commercial
Location: Atlanta, GA
Pay: $22–$28 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, hourly
Job Summary
Cogent Technology Resources is seeking a skilled AV Installation Technician to join our fast-paced team. Ideal candidates have experience with audio-visual systems, low-voltage wiring, or networked AV environments. You’ll work in hospitals and healthcare spaces installing and servicing AV equipment, displays, speakers, cameras, and related mounting hardware.
You’ll be a great fit if you like working with your hands, solving problems on-site, and delivering clean, professional installations that “just work” for the end user.
Responsibilities
- Install, cable, and configure AV systems in hospitals and commercial environments (conference rooms, training rooms, huddle spaces, etc.).
- Mount and align displays, projectors, speakers, cameras, microphones, and AV racks.
- Pull, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling (HDMI, Cat6, speaker wire, control cabling, etc.).
- Work from drawings, elevations, and wiring diagrams to build clean, organized systems.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fellow technicians to complete projects on schedule.
- Troubleshoot AV issues on-site and document work using basic computer software (email, Excel/Word, ticketing tools).
- Maintain tools, van stock, and keep job sites organized and safe.
- Communicate professionally with hospital staff, contractors, and customers.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in AV, low-voltage, electrical, telecom, or related trades.
- Comfortable with ladders, lifts, and overhead work; able to lift 50 lbs and work in tight or awkward spaces.
- Strong attention to detail in cable management, labeling, and finish work.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass a background check and drug screen.
- Willing to travel overnight (approx. 10%) and work occasional evenings or weekends as projects require.
Preferred Experience
- Experience installing AV systems in healthcare, education, or corporate environments.
- Familiarity with video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex rooms) and related hardware.
- Experience with AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, etc.) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of IP networking as it relates to AV devices.
- Experience with structural mounting, backing, and blocking for displays and equipment.
