What You Will Be Doing
- Feed stock loads into the press and operate the sheet-fed mechanism efficiently.
- Step in as an aerator operator when needed to keep production running smoothly.
- Inspect loads for damaged sheets and manage returns to the aerator if any issues are found.
- Ensure the press is well-supplied by bringing materials and putting away printing supplies.
- Keep the press area clean by removing waste and assisting with press wash-up.
- Monitor print quality for defects such as blanket smashes during make-ready and runs.
- Apply ink during make-ready and production runs.
- Communicate with the lead pressman or manager about supply needs and any concerns.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and quality protocols, including wearing PPE as required.
- Take on additional tasks as assigned to support press operations and team success.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- The ability to write, count and read load tags and job information.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Extended standing, some walking while pulling or pushing loads.
- Safely and effectively operate a printing press sheet feeder.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate a load turning machine.
- Operate a powered or un-powered pallet hand truck.
- Capable of working with others as part of a work team.
- The ability to consistently follow procedures and instructions.
Experience:
- Printing Industry - folding carton manufacturing preferred
- Litho print presses or other sheet fed printing machinery
- Manufacturing or production experience
- Quality control or inspection, especially with printed materials or packaging products
