Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • We are looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team.

  • As a Machinist for HECO you will identify problems and make necessary adjustments as they relate to industrial AC/DC electric motors and generators.

  • You will use a variety of manual machine tools and balancing equipment for rotating machinery, while following service center safety procedures.

  • You will need to have excellent attention to detail and an ability to work from drawings, sketches, and blueprints.

Core duties include:

  • Operate manual machining tools to include engine lathes, horizontal lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines, and related equipment

  • Safely use overhead, gantry cranes, and lift trucks, and associate lift rigging

  • Perform mechanical measurements using portable mechanical instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, and portable vibration measurement equipment

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • 3 or more years of experience as a machinist for electric motor repair preferred

  • Ability to read micrometer measuring equipment

  • Ability to operate manual lathes of various size and dimensions

  • Ability to operate electro-plating equipment

  • Ability to perform basic math functions

  • Ability to understand, perform and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures

  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs.
