Job Summary:
The Data Center Field Installer will play a crucial role in the deployment and physical support of our data center environments. This position combines the technical skills of a field installer with the craftsmanship of a carpenter. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, construction and modification of physical structures within the data center, such as containment systems, custom enclosures, and support frameworks. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a commitment to precision, and the ability to work effectively in a secure, fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Installation:

Run, terminate, test, and manage structured cabling (copper and fiber optic) to ensure optimal connectivity and airflow.

Assist with power whip installations and power distribution unit (PDU) configurations.

Construct, install, and modify hot and cold aisle containment systems to optimize airflow and cooling efficiency.

Build and install custom enclosures, partitions, and support structures for data center equipment and infrastructure.

Perform skilled carpentry work, including framing, cutting, and finishing, to adapt the data center's physical layout to evolving requirements.

Create and install temporary structures and protective barriers for construction and maintenance activities within the live data center environment.

Safely operate a variety of hand and power tools to fabricate and install necessary components from metal and composite materials.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and design documents to ensure accurate execution of projects.
Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent. A technical degree or certification in a related field is a plus.

Proven experience as a field installer, data center technician, or a similar role in a critical infrastructure environment.

Demonstrable experience in carpentry, construction, or a related trade.

Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and installation guides.

Skilled in the use of hand and power tools common to carpentry.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various data center sites as required.

Legal to work within the U.S.

Ability to travel nationally as needed, travel expenses covered.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Comfortable working on ladders, in confined spaces, and at various heights.

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
