Job Description
We are seeking a junior-level Research Associate to join a discovery/preclinical team focused on upstream protein expression and purification workflows. This is a hands-on, lab-based role ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals passionate about protein science.
Responsibilities
- Perform protein expression in specified buffers and run western blots.
- Conduct protein purification and biophysical characterization.
- Operate AKTA systems for large-scale chromatography (several-liter scale).
- Occasionally use gravity columns and loose resins.
- Maintain detailed lab records and communicate findings clearly.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry strongly preferred, Life Sciences acceptable.
- 0–3 years of industry experience, recent graduates welcome.
- Strong undergraduate research in protein work required if no industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with protein expression.
- Experience in buffer preparation, gels, and western blotting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with AKTA systems.
- Experience with large-scale purification workflows.
- No GMP experience required.
- Preference for candidates from discovery/preclinical lab environments.
Work Environment
This position is on-site and full-time in King of Prussia, PA. The work environment is collaborative and communicative, with team members encouraged to speak up and ask questions. The team operates in a detail-oriented manner, valuing humor and support among colleagues. The role is not micromanaged and requires a hands-on approach in a discovery/preclinical lab setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Bala Cynwyd, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
