Position Summary:
This position provides support for the manufacturing departments and acts as a relief operator when necessary due to specific production needs, for unexpected absences, and vacations. While this position works closely with the supervisor, and at times will provide support to the supervisor, it is an hourly position. This person must be a leader in safety, is concerned for personal safety and safety of others, and must demonstrate a willingness to participate in plant/ manufacturing initiatives.
One of the main functions of this job is to potentially be transferred into higher level job classifications to support the manufacturing operations.
Job Duties:
- Coordinate schedules for breaks and lunches
- Serve as a relief operator for breaks and lunches
- Capability of knowing all production lines
- Check production schedule and make sure coffee is available
- Ensure proper materials are on hand and on the line
- Communicate changeovers and any changes made on the line to coworker and other affected departments.
- Coordinate changeover activities to ensure changeover process occurs quickly and efficiently with as little downtime as possible
- Ensure Specification Sheet is being followed
- Ensure QMS sheets and other paperwork is being filled out correctly and completed
- Track downtime and make sure sheets are turned in at end of shift
- Reconcile daily production figures
- Prepare for next shift. Have all information needed and communicate any changes. Have equipment ready to operate.
- Attend and participate in daily production meeting, weekly team meeting and any other plant personnel meetings.
- Meet with coworkers as necessary to discuss production issues and workflow.
- Abide by all OSHA regulations and ensure work areas are free of safety violations. Immediately report safety hazards or unsafe acts to supervisor.
- Ensure GMP and Safety policies are being followed.
- Continuously monitor quality and check finished product for defects
- Continuously monitor equipment to detect issues.
- Participation in the CI program – i.e., active participation in root cause problem-solving, open communication, generates ideas. 5s check sheet, follow Standardized work procedures.
- Demonstrate dependability, flexibility, and assume accountability for job responsibilities.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous production line, packaging line or experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Basic computer skills & math ability required
- Ability to multi-task, troubleshoot and diagnose problems required.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate with co-workers verbally and in writing in a clear and logical manner
- Demonstrate ability to work independently, as well as willingness to work with and assist others
- Promote teamwork and function as a team player
- Demonstrate ability to train and motivate others
- Demonstrate ability to make sound business decisions after weighing options carefully
- Requires shift work with flexibility in hours worked.
- Must be able to meet physical, environmental, and mental requirements outlined on Job Specifications either with or without accommodation.
