Manufacturing Technician – Engineering Department
Location: Minneapolis, MN (On-Site)
Compensation: $75,000 – $90,000 per year, based on experience
Position Summary
A growing manufacturing facility is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Technician to support process development, continuous improvement initiatives, and daily production operations. This role acts as a technical resource across multiple departments and is responsible for improving quality, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support production teams to ensure processes meet quality and efficiency goals.
- Use data analysis tools to identify, recommend, and implement measurable process improvements.
- Participate in Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives such as 5S and kaizen events.
- Interpret and communicate drawings, work instructions, specifications, and industry standards.
- Perform root-cause analysis and develop/document corrective actions for defects and customer issues.
- Provide hands-on training and technical guidance to production staff.
- Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions.
- Review customer designs for manufacturability and provide design feedback.
- Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to support quoting and technical inquiries.
- Conduct cost analysis and process reviews to improve quality and reduce production costs.
- Balance short-term troubleshooting with long-term technical projects.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment as an Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Technician, or similar technical role.
- Demonstrated experience supporting production operations and process optimization.
Required Qualifications
- Strong background in fast-paced manufacturing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation (SOPs, WIs, process documentation).
- Proven experience applying problem-solving tools such as DMAIC, 8D, or A3.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Effective project management and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with injection molding, rubber molding, LSR molding, or CNC machining.
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Lean certification.
- Experience with Minitab, JMP, or other statistical software.
- Experience with automation systems (assembly, inspection, or process equipment).
- Technical or engineering education, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
