Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Setup Machinist to set up and operate DMG MORI or Hitachi Seiki CNC turning centers. The role involves modifying existing programs using G code or DMG MORI programming software and regularly inspecting tools and parts to ensure precision. You will communicate any delays, issues, or concerns to management and ensure the accuracy of measuring equipment using the standard in the inspection room.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate DMG MORI or Hitachi Seiki CNC turning centers.
- Modify existing programs at the machine using G code or DMG MORI programming software occasionally.
- Inspect tools and parts regularly to produce precision parts.
- Communicate delays, issues, or concerns to management.
- Ensure measuring equipment is accurate using the standard in the inspection room.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Extensive hands-on experience in the setup and operation of CNC machines.
- Familiarity with selecting, maintaining, and using various cutting tools and fixtures.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve machining issues quickly.
- Experience in implementing process improvements and efficiencies.
- Ability to program CNC machines from scratch, when needed.
- Skilled in selecting optimal tool path strategies, including feeds, speeds, and depths of cuts.
- Versatility in operating both CNC vertical machining centers and turning centers.
- High attention to detail, capable of maintaining tight tolerances.
- Advanced knowledge of shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
- Strong ability to interpret and understand complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Efficiency in running both new and repetitive jobs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to calculate RPM based on SFM.
- Recognizing signs of tool wear and adjusting feed rates, speeds, and tool selections.
- Diagnosing and addressing tool breakage to minimize downtime.

Work Environment
Machine shop with a first shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with CNC crew usually starting at 6:00 AM. Work in a climate-controlled building with a family-oriented environment, among a team of 66 people, including office staff. Enjoy being part of a growing team, which has expanded by 20 people over the last two years.

This is a Permanent position based out of Sussex, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $83200.00/yr.
