Job Summary:
As a critical member of our technology team, Lead Chemists coordinate with Senior Management to oversee day-to-day lab activities conducted by the lab technicians, perform research and develop projects, oversee or perform quality control, provide technical support to the JAX Sales Team and customers, and continue to improve existing products, formulas, processes, and equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and lead all lab testing for quality control, raw material qualification, project and technical support requests
- Provide batch fixes to out-of-spec products
- Serve as project lead in the lab, including
- Development of project layouts
- Work with the VP of Technology, Sales Team, Marketing, and end-users to further define project needs
- Identify testing needs
- Determine when project results meet product needs
- Present project findings and results to the VP of Technology
- Set up and oversee field trials
- Generate technical reports based on research and development projects or technical service requests
- Work with JAX Sales Team and customers to interpret the technical reports, test results, and recommendations
- Research new technologies including chemicals, applications, and equipment by working with raw material suppliers, equipment manufacturers or online resources
- Present ideas for formulation improvements to VP of Technology
- Provide JAX product recommendations based on application or product cross references to competitive products
- As the reactive technical representative, provide field support by troubleshooting at the customer level, identifying application needs and technical support
- Serve as primary contact for outside ISO audits and FM Global
- Participate in and contribute to internal ISO audits
- Work with the VP of Technology to develop lab policies, work instructions, forms and testing protocols
- Provide leadership to Lab Technicians and Chemists including: time and task management, development of professional skills and continuing education, testing, applications, and formulations
- Minimal travel as required
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to observe, research and interpret a subject, data, or problem to develop complex ideas and solutions
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related field of study.
- 2-5 years of laboratory experience is preferred

- TGA
