Position Summary: Prepares surfaces for finishing and applies paint or other coatings. Uses power or hand tools. Performs hand touch up. Maintains sand blast and painting equipment. Reports directly to General Foreman, appropriate shift Production Lead or his/her designate. Six to twelve months on the job experience required to learn procedures and attain proficiency.

Level I: Quality – Complete and accurate work performed efficiently
- Production quality and efficiency using appropriate tools and equipment, qualified to perform special processes as needed
- Performs sand blasting of components in accord with inspection or other specifications provided.
- Performs masking or other protective procedures as required.
- Upon completion of sandblasting operations, will remove sand, grit or other substances which will inhibit proper function or finish of component.
- Prior to painting, will perform any additional preparation surfaces.
- Paints or other coatings will be applied in accord with finish required and characteristics of coating materials.
- Performs hand touch-up as necessary.
- Maintains hand and power tools including routine repairs and cleaning. Equipment and parts must be maintained and kept in a clean and orderly manner.
- Consistently meets customer’s quality requirements and expectations.
Level I: Follow instructions – oral and/or written
- Will provide instruction and guidance to employees assigned to assist and as required, will participate in training of welders and other employees of the department of lesser classification.
- Performs other duties as performed by the General Foreman, appropriate shift Production Lead or his/her designate.

- Practices safety at all times while at work.

Requirements:
Qualifications: To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.
Education and Training
- High school diploma, BOCES or trade school painting.
- Finish and surface preparation training.
Experience:
Six to twelve months of on the job experience required to learn procedures and attain proficiency.
Other:
Applicable Proficiency Test.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is primarily required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend. May be required to move items up to 60 pounds for distances of up to 10 feet. May be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time.
Mental demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to read, write, analyze data and reports, exercise judgment, develop plans, procedures and goals, present information to others and work under pressure.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is also exposed to high level of manufacturing and equipment noise.
Duties are performed indoors in a manufacturing environment with temperature changes.
Exposure to hazardous materials, fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts with vibration.
May be exposed to fumes or dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels.
Must wear appropriate protective gear and clothing as necessary.

Must be able to work in the U.S without sponsorship.
