Harmony’s Plant Manager leads all aspects of foundry operations, ensuring safety, quality and production targets are met while managing and developing a productive and skilled workforce.

What You Will Do:

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing plant operations while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The plant manager will provide leadership and direction to foundry staff including supervisors, union employees, and direct reports.

  • Oversee all aspects of daily foundry operations, including melting, molding, casting, and finishing processes, to ensure smooth and efficient production.
  • Champion an initiative-taking safety culture, implement formal safety programs, and ensure strict adherence to all health, safety (OSHA), and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demands, optimize resource allocation, and ensure all finished goods meet quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of supervisors and production staff fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance and engineering teams to implement preventive maintenance programs and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Build, motivate and develop the plant leadership team to provide effective supervisory leadership and individual growth.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of plant budgets and capital expenditures budgets.
  • Coordinate employee training on production techniques, equipment operation, work processes, and procedures for new employees and further development of tenured employees.
  • Team with purchasing to achieve on-time delivery of needed shop supplies and materials.

  • Adaptability: Have the capacity to manage pressure and adjust to changes in production schedules or unexpected circumstances.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures as well as interpret for supervisors and employees ensuring full compliance with Harmony Castings policies within the area of influence.

Requirements:

Experience and Education

  • A strong mechanical aptitude and background is required, with a thorough knowledge of equipment assembly, fitting practices and machining.
  • Proficient with production processes, quality control, cost management, and lean manufacturing.
  • Experienced in planning and establishing work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience with managing in a union environment.
  • Expertise in automation, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing technologies.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 Revision D, and other quality management systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
