We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineers to develop innovative designs for signage and architectural branding elements. This position demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of building construction and metal fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Interface with Project Management to define customer requirements.
- Develop fabrication methods based on renderings of final products.
- Work closely with CADD Designers to fully document designs.
- Resolve fabrication issues on the shop floor.
- Update designs based on shop or engineering feedback.
- Apply consistent logic to standardize sign families.
- Reference past jobs to adapt or reuse design details.
- Support Project Management in resolving technical issues in Production and in the field.
Essential Skills
- BS in Engineering.
- 2+ years of relevant design experience.
- Experience with technical drawings and AutoCAD as well as SolidWorks.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of materials and manufacturing or construction.
- Effective and practical design skills.
- Project risk recognition and mitigation skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred knowledge of fabrication details, machine and material limitations.
- Manufacturing experience.
Work Environment
- This role involves working primarily in an office setting with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor to review products.
- It offers a dynamic environment where you will have the opportunity to engage with diverse projects and collaborate with a skilled team.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
