Position Summary:


The CNC Engineer is responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing CNC machining programs for new and existing products. This role supports manufacturing operations through troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and tooling optimization.


Key Responsibilities:


Programming & Process Development:

  • Develop CNC programs to support new part launches.
  • Validate pre-released CNC machining programs.
  • Optimize machine cutting paths, feeds, speeds, and tool selections to improve performance and product quality.
  • Manage cutting tool and toolholder selection, including specification development and procurement.
  • Support legacy programs, including program edits, updates, revision control, and documentation.

Manufacturing Support:

  • Provide hands-on manufacturing support and problem-solving for machining operations.
  • Troubleshoot issues with machinery, tooling, and CNC programs in collaboration with maintenance and production teams.
  • Support engineering in quoting and estimating cycle times and tooling costs for new and existing parts.

Continuous Improvement & Automation:

  • Lead cycle time reduction and tooling cost-saving initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to improve OEE, particularly within adaptive machining processes.
  • Develop and lead initiatives toward “Lights Out Manufacturing,” including offline programming, machine probing, pallet system integration, and automation strategies.

Quality & Culture:

  • Execute and promote a “Zero Defects” and “Don’t Take, Don’t Make, Don’t Pass” mindset within the 5-axis machining department.
  • Provide Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) support for programming and production issues.
  • Ensure all programs and processes meet internal quality standards and customer specifications.

Leadership & Training:

  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced CNC programmers, including collaboration with the lead 5-axis programmer.
  • Train new employees on CNC machine operation, program execution, and best practices for machining processes.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR at least 7 years of CNC programming experience with 5-axis equipment.
