Location: Beaumont, TX
Schedule: MondayFriday, Evening Shift (approx. 3:00 PM start)
Pay:

• Technicians: ~$20/hour
• Lead Technician: pay commiserate with experience

Iron Horse is expanding ourPD Hopper Shop, a clean, food-grade railcar repair environment. We are hiring two (2) PD Hopper Technicians and one (1) PD Hopper Lead Technician to join our growing team.

This shop requires high attention to detail, excellent organization, and strong mechanical abilities. Technicians regularly remove and reinstall hundreds to thousands of bolts, inspect and replace components, and help ensure railcars meet our strict food-grade standards.

What Youll Do

• Repair, replace, and install mechanical components (bearings, seals, gaskets, gears, valves, etc.).
• Perform detailed disassembly, including handling large quantities of bolts and components with excellent organization.
• Conduct inspections and document repair conditions using tablets and digital reporting.
• Maintain a clean, contaminant-free working environment suitable for food-grade railcars.
• Use hand tools, torque tools, pneumatic tools, and other equipment safely and correctly.
• Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements in a high-standards shop.

Lead Technician Additional Responsibilities:

• Support workflow, organization, and quality control.
• Provide direction to technicians and assist the supervisor with daily priorities.
• Ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and consistency in the PD Hopper repair process.

• Strong mechanical aptitude able to learn, disassemble, rebuild, and troubleshoot.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Ability to work in a clean, food-grade environment with strict cleanliness standards.
• Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work safely at all times.
• Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn and follow shop processes.

Basic Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid drivers license.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs (and team lift up to 150 lbs).
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, heights, and noisy environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
• Prior mechanical, industrial, or railcar experience is preferred, but not required for the right candidate.
