JOB SUMMARY
The Tennis Professional aids in providing an exceptional member experience through lessons, drills, and special events. They are expected to take ownership of certain programs and provide insight to the Tennis Director regarding Club programming. To fulfill the full-time employee requirements, the Tennis Professional will combine their time with on-court lessons/drills and off-court administrative duties. Overall, the Tennis Professional works in a team environment with all members of the tennis staff to create an all-inclusive tennis program at The Club at Rolling Hills.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Develop and enhance the tennis skills/knowledge of the game to all members
- Actively promote the sale of Pro Shop merchandise
- Assist with tournaments
- Take ownership of a “new player initiative”
- Coach the junior program which serves members from 3-18 years old
- Assist with lesson planning and curriculums for adult and junior programs
- Responsible for enhancing own teaching skills through continuing education
- Assist with all special tennis functions and socials
- Assist Pickleball Coordinator with pickleball events
- Responsible for scheduling and organizing their own private lessons
- Attend team meetings with the Tennis Staff
- Attend Adult League Team meetings to help understand the needs of the adult tennis players
- Promote an all-inclusive atmosphere which follow the guidelines provided by the Tennis Director
- Be available to cover lessons/drills for other tennis pros when needed
- Expected to come to work adhering to the department’s “Standards of Performance”
- Demonstrate a positive attitude to maintain and grow a cohesive environment amongst members and co-workers
- Reports directly to the Tennis Director regarding matters of issues, new ideas, proposed changes
- Contribute to the overall presentation of the facility (water, stray balls, trash, court surface, etc.)
- Racquet restringing
- Transport balls on and off the court for lessons
- Help filter out the dead balls in the baskets and replenish with new balls periodically
- Fill out and sign bi-weekly timesheet
- Assist front desk with all duties when necessary (answer phones, attend to walk in customers, cleanliness of the lobby area, etc.)
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- High school diploma. Undergraduate degree preferred
- Effective verbal and listening skills
- Team player mindset
- Have 3-5 years of experience teaching tennis lessons to juniors and adults
- Competed or currently competes at a 4.5 NTRP level
- USPTA or PTR certified
