Job Summary
Will work under the supervision of the RN to provide safe, comfortable, and aseptic dialysis treatment. Collaborate with other members of the clinical care team about dialysis patients to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. Perform and record daily checks on the R.O. system, mix and check Bicarbonate conductivity after sending out to the delivery system. Perform other daily duties as the job requires, such as cleaning and stocking supplies. Required to take call.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
- Responsible for the maintenance and operation of dialysis equipment and supplies.
- Initiates dialysis and assists nurses in monitoring patients and equipment throughout dialysis.
- Sets UF goals in coordination with RN, safe practice guidelines, and dialysis prescription.
- Terminates dialysis and does post-dialysis monitoring of the patients.
- Cleans and disinfects equipment and maintains it in a safe working condition, and stocks the unit with supplies.
- Reinforces education of patients in self-care to prevent complications between dialysis treatments.
- Maintains accurate patient records and communicates this information to other health care personnel at the center.
- Takes call after orientation to call and responds in a timely manner. Completes treatment safely, with appropriate documentation given to inpatient staff.
- Attends staff meeting at least 80% of the time or goes over minutes with the dialysis manager. Completes all dialysis and UBH required education.

- Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Wears appropriate clothing for job functions. Wears ID badge.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, administration, and staff.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Is familiar with and follows UBH Human Resource policies.
Regulatory Requirements
- BLS
- Certified Hemodialysis Technician preferred.
