• Plan and execute assigned particle characterization tasks as well as other applicable physical analytical chemistry tasks utilizing standard procedure and technical understanding of various techniques to complete assigned tasks
• Independently generate precise, reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner. Document the experimentation per the regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate experimental precision and strong data interpretation skills and should possess understanding of core discipline.
• Collaborate with various functions (i.e. formulation, analytical, process engineering) to integrate particulate analysis into finished dosage forms and complete projects under aggressive timeline
• Ensures safety requirements are met when performing tasks.
• Ensures timely delivery of high-quality precise data.
• Apply basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument related systems.
• Presents findings of defined experiments to larger audiences.
Requirements/Qualifications
• BS/BA in Chemistry, Material Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field with minimum 5 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred) or master’s degree with minimum 2 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred).
• Experienced in particulate matter characterization and investigation within pharmaceutical, biotechnological, or relevant scientific environments
• Experience utilizing analytical instruments relevant to visible and sub-visible particle characterization such as visual inspection, Laser Obscuration (LO), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Flow imaging, Laser Diffraction (LD), optical microscope, spectroscopy (FTIR/Raman), and Scanning Electron Microscope/Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM/EDX)
• Background working with lyophilized and/or spray dried pharmaceutical products, particularly with peptide, lipid and/or mRNA preferred
• Familiarity with regulatory requirement regarding particulate matter in pharmaceuticals preferred
• Experience utilizing additional materials science techniques such as Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS), and PXRD would be a plus
• Strong documentation, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Able to present experimental findings to larger groups
